The Story Behind My Why | Ms. Neelam Bathe | Primary Program Guide

Finding Purpose

At the heart of Montessori education lies a deep sense of purpose. The work we do every day is more than teaching, it’s nurturing growth, independence, and a lifelong love of learning in children. For Ms. Neelam Bathe, this purpose has guided her journey as both an educator and a lifelong learner herself.

Her path into Montessori began not in a classroom, but as a volunteer at her daughter’s school. What she witnessed there changed the course of her life. She witnessed children who worked joyfully, independently, and with a sense of excitement. They were not driven by rules or rewards but simply by their own curiosity. Her experience awakened something in her; lighting a desire to understand the philosophy that allowed children to thrive so naturally. So peacefully.

The Story Behind My Why

“When I volunteered at my daughter’s school, I was fascinated by the Montessori approach. It was built around the idea that every child is a natural learner.” Ms. Neelam noticed that the focus was not solely academic; it was on the whole child. “What I love most about Montessori education is that each child learns at his or her own pace, following curiosity instead of rigid lessons”. She recognized that this freedom builds confidence, creativity, and a love for learning that lasts a lifetime in each child. Her favorite Montessori quote captures this beautifully: ‘The children are now working as if I did not exist‘. She believes there is something truly wonderful about witnessing a child tackle a lesson with excitement and curiosity, much like the moment they learn to ride a bike without training wheels: full of determination, joy, and a proud sense of independence.

For the past fifteen years, Ms. Neelam Bathe has dedicated herself to guiding children through those formative early years of education through observation, teaching, learning, singing, reading, and creating. She brings a profound sense of purpose to her work, truly understanding that each child is unique with respect to their own pace and interests.

But what stands out most to her is how invigorated she becomes when watching her students learn and explore. “I enjoy observing a child and connecting learning to what excites them”. It’s in those authentic moments of connection and engagement that Ms. Neelam finds her greatest inspiration and reaffirmation of why she is so passionate about Montessori education and creating a beautiful and happy environment for her students.

Living My Purpose

Each day, Ms. Neelam strives to create a joyful learning environment where children develop confidence, empathy, and curiosity about the world around them. Montessori education gives children the freedom to explore and gives her, as their guide, the honor of witnessing the incredible ways they flourish when trusted to lead their own learning journey.
